What's the difference between a Set and "My Sets"?
It's the same split as catalog models versus your pieces, just for boxed sets.
A Set is the catalog record for a manufacturer's packaged group of models sold under one SKU — a starter set, a passenger set, a freight outfit. Like the rest of the catalog it's public and shared: one Set record for everyone, and it lists the member models that come in the box.
My Sets is your owned copy of a set. When you add a set you own, we create your personal set alongside a Piece for each member of the box. Your set carries its own details — price you paid, status, notes — and you can list the whole thing for sale or trade.
Why it matters
- The Set answers "what comes in this box?"
- My Sets answers "which of those do I actually own, and what are they worth to me?"
Completion tracking
Because your set knows its member list, it shows how complete you are — e.g. 4 of 6 pieces. Buy the rest later and you can top up the missing pieces in a couple of clicks. See I bought the rest of a set later. How do I add the missing pieces?
Tip: You can own more than one copy of the same set, and a set can legitimately include the same car several times — both are supported.
